Dato Faiza holds Bachelor of Laws from University of Malaya and Master of Laws (LLM Intellectual Property & Information Technology Laws) from East Anglia University, United Kingdom. She started her career as a Magistrate in Civil and Criminal law matters in July 1984.

From 1991 to July 2002, she served as a Legal Advisor of Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. From August 2002 to June 2007, she served in Attorney General’s Chambers as a Senior Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman. From July 2007 to December 2013, Dato Faiza served as Penang State Legal Advisor.

During her career, she successfully headed the drafting of intellectual property laws in complying with the TRIPS Agreement (WTO), led the working group for the Chemical Weapons Convention Act 2005, and was the principal officer responsible for the Anti Human Trafficking in Persons Act 2006. From September 2017, Dato Faiza serves as Chairman of Customs Appeal Tribunal.
